Is it safe to use free online PDF tools? What to check first

Many sites upload your file to a server. Here is how to tell, and when it matters.

The question to ask

Does the tool upload my file? Some do, and keep it for hours. Others process the file inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.

Quick checks

  • Read the privacy page for how long files are kept.
  • Open the page, go offline, and see if the tool still works. If it does, it runs locally.
  • Avoid uploading bank statements, IDs or contracts to a tool that does not say it deletes files.

What we do

Most MergeMintHub tools run in your browser. A few Office conversions need our server and delete the file right after.
